Instructions for filling out the Online Application Form
(1) Exam Date - Enter the date of the exam you wish to take.
(2) Name (English) - Write your name in English, in capital letters.
(3) Name (Katakana) - Write your name in Katakana. If you have difficulty writing, you can leave it blank.
(4) Date of Birth - Enter the date of birth of the applicant.
(5) Gender - Select gender.
(6) Occupation – Select your current employment status (Student/Employee).
(7) Current Address (English) – Enter your current address in English.
(8) Telephone – Enter your current telephone number in English.
(9) Email – Enter your current email address.
(10) Purpose – Select your purpose for taking the STBJ exam.
(11) NRC Number (English) - Enter your NRC Number in English.
(12) Passport Number (English) - Enter your passport number in English. If not available, you can leave it blank.
(13) Passport Expiry Date - Enter the expiration date of your passport in English.
(14) Method of Studying - Select the method of studying Japanese you are currently studying.
(15) Japanese Institution Name - Enter the name of the institution where you studied Japanese.
(16) Level - Select the level of Japanese you are studying.
(17) Uploads –
User Photo- Upload a softcopy of a black and white photo of the applicant. It should be a clear and sharp image.
NRC Front and Black Photo - Upload a front and back photo of the applicant. It should be a clear and sharp image.
Payment Screenshot – Upload only the full transaction message showing the payment has been completed.
Rules to be followed by students taking the test
Candidates must be at the examination hall one (1) hour before the start of the examination.
Candidates will not be allowed to enter/leave the examination hall for any reason from the start of the Sample Audio Test until the end of the examination.
Candidates are not allowed to bring any items other than HB pencils (or 2B pencils) and erasers into the examination hall.
Smart watches are not allowed to be worn or carried into the examination hall.
Mobile phones must be turned off in the examination hall. Alarms must also be turned off. If a phone is found ringing or being used in the hall, the examination will not be allowed to continue.
Clothing that is inappropriate for the public is not allowed.
Clothing with Japanese characters on it will not be allowed to continue the examination.
If there are any errors in the name, date of birth, etc. on the admission ticket, you can contact the room attendant and have them corrected.
Rules to be followed when retrieving exam certificates

If you are collecting on your behalf, you must bring (1) copy of the registration card of the person collecting on your behalf.
Training schools are required to send a letter containing the name of the training school and its logo or letterhead, stating the number of students, names, and seat numbers they wish to collect, two (2) days in advance.
To use the exam admit card and the certificate of issuance (ID or Passport) used when submitting the exam form during the exam,

Note: When retrieving exam results, it is necessary to know the correct exam seat number.
If the above information is incomplete, certificates and score reports will not be issued.
We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 80th STBJ examination, scheduled for August 9, 2026, with a testing center available in Mandalay Region.
Candidates wishing to take the exam at the Mandalay center may apply online by selecting the Mandalay test site on the STBJ website, or by applying directly at the STBJ Myanmar Main Office and specifying their preferred test site.
